Matthew 5:22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.
We as people pass by one another each day never looking up to acknowledge a person who has stayed up the night before to wrestle with that stubborn suicidal spirit. We look in the mirror to smile before heading out our doors only to check our teeth and make sure our make up is flawless. From there, that smile is tucked in our back pockets until the next mirror check but not used for the hopeless, the heartbroken, the lost, depressed, or neglected people who could use it most.
Instead of smiling, we grip our pride and hold on to our arrogance walking around with our nose in the air not speaking to those who need a kind word or to see a pleasant face. God has commanded us to show love to one another just as he has shown us. Our attitudes should not cause others to stumble or ignite anger in their hearts. Our faces, attitudes, hearts, spirits, minds, thoughts, and lives should be saturated with Godly demonstrations despite the actions of others or opposition we are faced with. God’s word says, “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:31-32
